1) The Guild emphasizes experience,
related education and expertise over formal non-related education.
The Guild does not require a college degree- other appraisal
societies do.
2) The Guild has set-up a series of classes in the various
appraisal disciplines which, usually, do not require the member
to leave his/her home town. The Guild allows it's members
to study at home and to take the Guild's tests using proctors
who live/work close to the member.
Other appraisal societies require that course work be done
in cities that are often far away from where a member lives.
This not only requires a great deal of time and inconvenience
but also a great additional expense for travel, lodging and
assorted other costs. These additional costs can sometimes
amount to over $1,200.00 per class. If you take four (4) classes
this can mean an additional $4,800.00 in expenses plus lost
time and trouble. The Guild saves you this money and the associated
inconvenience.
3) The Guild offers its members savings in the cost of the
course work that the Guild requires for accreditation. Guild
members also save money with the Guild's reasonable annual
dues. These savings can amount to 30% - 50% of the cost or
approximately another $1,000.00 savings for the course work
and 25% - 40% savings in annual dues. Overall these savings
can amount to thousands and thousands of dollars.
The Guild is not a short-cut to accreditation. A professional
designation from the Guild is a meaningful accomplishment.
Recognized professional designations that recognize experience
and training are important to both appraisers and clients.
Understanding the needs of our members, the Guild keeps the
cost and expense of accreditation to reasonable limits. The
Guild emphasizes experience, related education and expertise
over formal non-related education and expensive inconvenient
travel.
