The Guild Appraiser ... The Right Choice

The Guild assures you that Guild Appraisers have the knowledge, experience, training and awareness of ethical conduct that it takes to do the job right. Guild appraisers are professionals - ready to put their skills to work for you. Your Guild Appraiser has the solid background it takes to do the job right. Guild Appraisers are educated, experienced and tested valuers within their chosen field(s) of expertise.

Integrity, Knowledge and Perseverance

The Guild Appraiser who holds one of the Guild's coveted professional designations is ready to serve the client. Before Guild accreditation, the Guild tests each member's knowledge, reviews appraisal reports submitted by the each member and teaches each individual the principals of ethical appraising.

All Guild members must submit an application to the Guild for membership approval. Each perspective member's background is checked. Each Guild Appraiser is required to pass examination on the principals and practices of appraising. Each Guild Appraiser must pass a test on the ethics of appraising. The Guild tests each applicant on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) as published in 1996 by the Appraisal Foundation. The Appraisal Foundation has been authorized by Congress as the source of appraisal standards and appraiser qualifications.

The Guild has reviewed copies of the Guild Appraiser's appraisal reports and these reports must meet Guild standards for professionalism and competence. Each Guild Appraiser is tested on the theory and practice of appraising and proper report writing. Tests on the various subject categories as determined by the Guild must be passed by the appraiser before certification. The Guild establishes by examination that each Guild Appraiser knows the principles and ethical requirements of professional appraisal practice.

The Guild Appraiser must have experience and training before being granted a designation by the guild. With three years experience, the member may qualify for the Accredited Appraiser designation. With five years experience, the member may qualify for the Senior Accredited Appraiser designation.

Every Guild Appraiser must be regularly recertified by the Guild. The Guild requires each Guild Appraiser to show professional growth through continuing education and professional participation. The Guild wants every Guild Appraiser to be up-to-date on changes in the industry and knowledgeable about the exciting world of appraising.

Integrity and Reputation

The Guild Appraiser has submitted an application to the Guild which is scrutinized and checked before the individual is granted a Guild designation. Personal references and backgrounds are checked and verified.

The Guild demands ethical conduct from all of its designated members. The Guild is vigilant in its effort to maintain the ethical conduct of all Guild Appraisers. The Guild investigates all complaints received on all designated members and takes action as the Guild may deem appropriate. The Guild encourages all of its members to monitor the professional conduct of all Guild Appraisers. The Guild, after review and deliberation, may discipline a designated member for breaches of ethical conduct. Appropriate action by the Guild, with proper cause, may be censure, suspension or revocation of membership.

Expert Valuators

Guild Appraisers have the training and the experience to be experts. The Guild insists that their Appraisers strive to be professionals in all areas of their professional endeavors and at all times. Guild Appraisers are taught that their reports are to be accurate, without bias, and credible. The Guild trains and educates its members to render their services in a manner consistent with nationally accepted guidelines. Guild Appraisers know how to use their skills to the benefit of their client. Guild Appraisers are ready to render expert service to you, the client.

The Guild was established by professionals within the field of antique and collectable sales and valuation, residential personal property liquidation, residential personal property sales, and residential personal property valuation. The management of the Guild is dedicated to the responsible exercise of ethical conduct within the appraisal profession. The Guild is an organization interested in the appraiser and the client. We believe that the best interests of the appraisal profession will be found in competent, responsible appraisers who exercise their professional diligence in an atmosphere of training, education and dedication.
